Every business leaks somewhere. Most owners know roughly where and have never put a number on it. Answer twelve questions about how your business actually runs and this page will score it, name the three places it leaks worst, and do the arithmetic on your own figures.
Answer honestly rather than aspirationally. Nobody sees this but you, and a flattering score is worth nothing.
Optional, and nothing here is sent anywhere. They are only used to do arithmetic on this page. Rough is fine, and a rough figure you believe beats a precise one you do not.
These are your three lowest answers, in order, with what usually fixes each one. Nothing here needs new staff.
Your numbers, our arithmetic. Nothing here is an industry average or an estimate we invented, and every line shows its working.
Most owners read a list like this as an efficiency problem. It is also a valuation problem, and that is the more expensive half.
A buyer pays a multiple for a business that runs without its owner, and pays a discount, or walks, for one that does not. The four answers that decide it are the same ones above: whether the business survives two weeks without you, whether the way you work is written down, whether any revenue is contracted, and whether the customer records would survive a handover.
No multiple is quoted here, because a real one depends on your sector, your margin, your customer concentration and your books, and anybody who gives you a number without those is guessing at you.
This scored the category. Twelve questions and three of your own figures, which is enough to show you where to look and roughly what it is worth, and not enough to tell you what is actually true in your business.
The paid version scores your business: your systems, your real response times measured rather than estimated, your actual numbers, a costed map of every gap, and what it would take to close each one. It stands alone, which means you could hand it to a different firm entirely and they would have everything they need. That is the test of whether an assessment was any good.
